I am a consultant Rheumatologist with 25 years' experience of the full range of rheumatological conditions. I have a particular interest in early inflammatory arthritis such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis, biologic therapies, Spondyloarthritis / Ankylosing Spondylitis, Osteoporosis, Polymyalgia Rheumatic and Giant Cell Arteritis, Gout, Osteoarthritis; connective tissue diseases and vasculitis, Fibromyalgia, hip / knee / shoulder / back and neck pain.

Academic Background
I have published many research papers in a variety of international academic journals and have lectured at a range of regional, national and international conferences. I trained at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, one of the premier hospitals for Rheumatology in the country. I undertook a wide range of research projects whilst working there (particularly in the area of Spondyloarthritis) and then went onto undertake postgraduate research at the University of Oxford. I was awarded an MD for my research on the genetic susceptibility for Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am currently the Peninsula Musculoskeletal Research lead for the NIHR. I am the Principle Investigator for > 20 Torbay Rheumatology research trials.
