Mr Akram Uddin is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where he holds a substantive post and performs elective foot surgery. He trained under dual tutorship at leading podiatric surgical centres in the United Kingdom. His training also included advanced courses in surgical reconstruction and tendon transfer techniques in Italy, Greece, Switzerland, and Germany. Prior to his appointment as a Consultant, Akram completed a Clinical Fellowship at one of Europe’s largest trauma centres. Akram specialises in adult foot reconstruction and diabetic limb salvage. He also performs ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided injection therapy.
Mr Akram is a registered surgical tutor and is actively involved in training the next generation of podiatric surgeons. He is an Honorary Lecturer at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. He has presented at both national and international conferences. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and leads research projects at national and international levels. He has a strong interest in foot and ankle research and completed a HEE/NIHR Pre-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Nottingham. Akram is on an academic surgeon career path.
Akram is committed to clinical excellence and evidence-based practice, with a strong emphasis on clinical governance and continuous professional development. He is the Co-Chair of the regional NHS Foot & Ankle Governance Meetings, playing an active leadership role in maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. He regularly attends international conferences and undertakes advanced surgical skills training to ensure his practice remains at the forefront of evidence-based foot surgery.
