Mr Bimal Kumar is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Blakelands Hospital, Milton Keynes who specialises in Oculoplastic surgery.

He has extensive experience in managing various types of cataracts and using standard monofocal, toric and extended depth of focus (Edof) implants that can reduce dependence on spectacle wear. Toric implants can reduce astigmatism whilst the Edof implants (PureSee by J&J) allow patients to reduce dependence on spectacle wear for distance, intermediate and functional near vision (eg using the smart phone or seeing the prices on shopping items).

Mr Kumar completed his ophthalmic training in Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and St Pauls Eye Unit, Liverpool and has done a corneoplastics fellowship in Perth, Western Australia as well as as a second oculoplastics fellowship in Maidstone/ Tunbridge Wells/ East Grinstead. He held a substantive Consultant Ophthalmologist post at Milton Keynes University Hospital up until 2022. He has been providing ophthalmic services at Blakelands Hospital since 2013.
