Clinical interests

My interests include the assessment and treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions including injuries. I have a particular interest in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and shoulder and elbow joint replacement surgery. Included below are some of the common conditions I treat.Shoulder conditions: frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tears, subacromial impingement/bursitis, calcific tendonitis, shoulder dislocations and instability, SLAP tears, shoulder arthritis, acromio-clavicular joint (ACJ) disruptions, ACJ arthritis, shoulder and clavicle fractures.Elbow conditions: tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer's elbow (medial epicondylitis), ulnar nerve entrapment (cubital tunnel syndrome), biceps tendon ruptures, olecranon bursitis, elbow arthritis/stiffness and elbow fractures.

Academic Background

Qualifications MBChB, MRCSEd, FRCSEd (Tr+Orth) Having completed my specialist orthopaedic training on the highly regarded South Yorkshire rotation in Sheffield I developed a special interest in my chosen field of Upper Limb Surgery. I completed my fellowship at the nationally and internationally renowned Royal Derby Hospital and Pulvertaft Hand Unit. I have also undertaken training at the Balgrist Clinik in Switzerland to gain first hand experience and training from Professor Christian Gerber on the reverse shoulder prosthesis. I have published on a number of topics in both national and international journals including the American Journal of Bone and Joint surgery and Injury. I continue to be actively involved in research to provide the highest quality evidence based treatment to my patients. I am faculty on a number of national and international courses including the Sheffield/Chesterfield FRCS clinical examination course and The Royal College Of Surgeons Of England Amputations Course. I am a Clinical Tutor and Examiner for the University Of Sheffield Medical School
