Degenerative Conditions (Wear and Tear)
- Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD): Chronic wear of the intervertebral discs that lose their cushioning ability over time.
- Herniated / Prolapsed Discs: Often referred to as "slipped discs," occurring in the cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), or lumbar (lower back) regions.
- Spinal Stenosis: Narrowing of the spinal canal or intervertebral foramen, most often due to aging, which "pinches" the spinal cord or nerve roots.
- Spondylosis: A general term for degenerative changes including bone spurs (osteophytes) and arthritis that can press on nerves.
Nerve-Related Pain & Radiculopathy
- Sciatica: Radiating pain from the lower back down the leg, often caused by a herniated lumbar disc.
- Brachialgia: Radiating pain from the neck down the arm, typically due to a pinched nerve in the cervical spine.
- Myelopathy: Spinal cord compression that can lead to loss of hand dexterity, balance issues, or weakness in the limbs.
