Mr Elledge is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with subspecialty interests in skin cancer, temporomandibular disorders and medical education. Following higher training, he completed sub-specialty Fellowships in aesthetic surgery and skin cancer and is a member of the skin cancer multi-disciplinary team at Solihull Hospital. Routine dentoalveolar surgery e.g. dental extractions, cyst enucleation, biopsies; oral medicine consultations e.g. white patches, vesiculobullous disorders, facial pain; excision and repair of non-melanoma skin cancer of the head and neck region; consultations for temporomandibular disorders/facial pain; intramuscular botulinum toxin; TMJ arthrocentesis/steroid injections/arthroscopy.

Academic Background

Mr Elledge graduated in dentistry with distinction at the University of Malta in 2003, placing first in his year. Following a few years working for the state health service in Malta, he relocated to the United Kingdom in 2005, initially working in paediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Following junior posts in Maxillofacial Surgery in the West of Scotland, he completed the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006. In 2007, he started an accelerated medical degree at the University of Birmingham, completing this in 2010 with distinction, placing first in his year and being awarded the Sir Arthur Thomson Gold Medal and the Chancellor's Prize, awarded annually for outstanding achievement and contributions to the general life of the University. He completed core surgical training in Plastic Surgery and higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the West Midlands, training in the whole remit of the specialty and successfully completing his exit Fellowship exams in 2017. He also gained a Masters in Medical Education with distinction from the acclaimed programme at the Centre for Medical Education, University of Dundee. Mr Elledge then rounded off his clinical training with two nationally awarded Training Interface Group (TIG) Fellowships in Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery and the Management of Skin Cancer in Nottingham and Leeds respectively in 2018, prior to taking up the post of Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As well as his clinical activity, he has an academic commitment to the University of Birmingham as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, coordinating the Human Diseases module in the undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at the University, ensuring that the dentists of the future understand the breadth of infection, pathology, pharmacology, medicine, surgery and therapeutics and preparing them to care for patients holistically in their future careers. He is also both a Senior Academic Tutor and Personal Mentor for undergraduate medical students at the University, sitting on admissions interview panels and exam boards. At a postgraduate level, he is an examiner for the MFDS examinations with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and an Assigned Educational Supervisor for junior trainees.
