Mr Shahid Khan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in spinal conditions, working at Duchy Hospital in Truro
Mr Shahid Khan studied law at Cambridge University and then Medicine at Oxford University, qualifying in 1995. He then undertook his basic and higher surgical training at Oxford and on the Bristol Orthopaedic training programme.
Shahid has extensive spinal surgery fellowship training, working in the spinal units in Cardiff and Birmingham before undertaking the prestigious complex spinal deformity fellowship in San Diego, USA in 2007.
Shahid has worked as a full time Consultant Spine Surgeon since 2007 in The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, and has had a private practise at the Nuffield Exeter from the same time. He undertakes all spinal procedures, from injection treatments to complex spinal reconstructions, fusions and revision surgery, for all cervical and lumbar pathology, treating back and neck pain, arm pain and sciatica on an almost daily basis. He specialises in minimally invasive spinal surgery, particularly the lateral approach to the spine when possible.
He has a special interest in surgical training, regularly teaching specialist surgical techniques to fellow surgeons, and has worked as a surgical proctor for many years. He also undertakes medicolegal work, also working as a case assessor for the GMC.
