Mr Stephen Metcalfe is a dedicated and highly skilled Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon, serving both NHS and private patients in Birmingham. He is currently practising at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and the West Midlands and Stourside Hospitals.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2001, followed by Neurosurgical training in Newcastle and Middlesbrough. He then undertook a Spinal Fellowship in Adelaide, Australia.
Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Metcalfe has a dedicated interest in medical education and training, and is currently a Royal College of Surgeons of England Surgical Tutor for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he plays a key role in training the next generation of surgeons. He is also a member of the national Specialty Advisory Committee for Neurosurgery.
