Mr Neal Jacobs is a UK and international fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon with specialist expertise in foot and ankle surgery and complex limb reconstruction. He has a patient-centred approach and always takes time to fully address patient concerns and tailor individual treatment plans. He treats all surgical foot and ankle conditions from the simple to the very complex and his clinical interests include percutaneous minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, bunion correction, Achilles tendon reconstruction, joint preserving ankle surgery, sports injuries, arthritis, ankle arthroscopy (keyhole surgery),deformity and trauma/ fractures. In addition to his foot and ankle practice, Mr Jacobs also undertakes complex limb reconstruction surgery including limb lengthening, treatment of adult bone deformity, management of problem fractures and bone infection. Academic Background
Mr Jacobs graduated from University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2001 and served a commission in the Royal Air Force over 16 years, including an operational tour of duty as a trauma surgeon in Afghanistan, before retiring with the rank of Wing Commander. He was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine degree (MD) by the University of Newcastle for his thesis on novel resuscitation strategies for casualties of blast and haemorrhage in 2011. Mr Jacobs was awarded the prestigious British Orthopaedic Association Ram Kumar Chatterjee travelling fellowship enabling him to visit and train in international centres of excellence in Italy, Russia and the USA, including New York's Hospital for Special Surgery. Mr Jacobs has numerous peer-reviewed publications in the orthopaedic medical literature and also co-authored a book chapter.. He has been a specialist adviser to NICE regarding joint preserving treatment for ankle arthritis.
