Mr Phaltankar qualified from the University of Bombay, India in 1992. He undertook postgraduate orthopaedic training in a leading teaching hospital in Bombay. In the UK, he has trained at St. George’s Hospital, London as well as other hospitals in Surrey and West Sussex.
He has been working as a specialist hip and knee surgeon in Manchester since 2005. He undertakes a large number of surgical procedures related to the hip and knee in his NHS and private practice.
He undertakes total as well as partial knee replacements. A large part of his surgical practice involves arthroscopic or keyhole knee surgery including arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and cartilage surgery for torn knee cartilage. He offers knee surgery for recurrent dislocation of the knee cap.
He performs hip injections and total hip replacements for treatment of arthritic hip pain.
Fellowship History:
He gained extensive training in all aspects of knee surgery and knee replacement while undertaking knee fellowships in Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
Research Interests:
His research interest focuses on various aspects of ACL reconstruction and knee replacement.
