He then went on to complete his clinical studies at St Thomas' Hospital in London and then subsequently as cardiology registrar at King's College Hospital. He was appointed senior registrar and clinical lecturer at St Bartholomew's and The London Chest Hospitals where he had training in angiography, balloon angioplasty and stent insertion. Dr Robinson has researched and published widely on the use of stents for the treatment of coronary disease. During his research he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Research Fellowship
