Mr Duncan McRae is the senior ENT surgeon in Colchester specialising in rhinology (nasal conditions), otology (ear conditions) and throat symptoms.
Mr McRae’s clinical interests are nasal problems such as blocked nose, sinusitis, nasal polyps, epistaxis (nose bleed) and endoscopic sinus surgery ; ear problems such as hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus, ear pain (otalgia) and ear discharge (otorrhoea); throat conditions such as tonsillitis, sore throat, hoarse voice and swallowing difficulty. In his NHS practice at Colchester General Hospital the difficult nasal and ear problems in Colchester are sent to him by his colleagues including from hospitals outside Colchester.
Mr McRae was the Senior Registrar at The Royal Liverpool Hospital and Alder Hey Childrens Hospital from 1992 to 1995. He was a lecturer in head and neck surgery at Royal Liverpool Hospital in 1994, and was awarded an otology fellowship in Madras, India from February to June 1995. He was also awarded a TWJ Fellowship in Otology to Beziers, France in 1995.
He was appointed as a Consultant in ENT Surgery in Colchester in October 1995.
Mr McRae has been a teacher on the Cambridge Endoscopic Sinus Surgery course since 1998 and is co-author of the 'Key Topics in ENT' textbook and author of the ENT chapter of 'Hutchinson’s Clinical Methods'.
