Mr Chandima Halahakoon is a Consultant General Surgeon in Colchester, Oaks Hospital
Mr Halahakoon specialises in Hernia surgery, Gall bladder surgery, Local anaesthetic surgery (lumps), Proctology (Pilonidal disease, Haemorrhoids, Fistula, Fissure), Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy.
Mr Halahakoon is on the specialist register of the General Medical Council (GMC). He qualified in 2000 from the University of Colombo. He received his Masters degree in general surgery in 2005, receiving Gold medals for best performance at both entry and exit exams. He has a diploma in advanced laparoscopic surgery from the University of Strasbourg, France. Mr Halahakoon has undergone higher surgical training in Sri Lanka and Australia. He has also undergone advanced laparoscopy training at the Colchester General Hospital. He is JAG accredited for both gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He has a keen interest in surgical teaching and currently works as a tutor at the Queen Mary University of London and the ICENI canter of the Colchester General Hospital. His research interests include emergency general surgery.
