Academic Background
Mr. Parratt is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Oaks Hospital and East Suffolk North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT). His practice focuses on the treatment of conditions affecting the hip and knee. He performs a high volume of hip and knee replacements per year in addition to keyhole operations and ligament reconstructions. He is frequently referred patients with complex knee problems or for second opinions. He is a leading expert in the field of Robotic Assisted Knee surgery. He is one of the first surgeons in the UK to test and use the CORI Robotic Knee System. This system allows greater accuracy and for the surgeon to tailor the operation to each individual patient when compared to conventional knee replacement. Mr. Parratt was selected to train on the internationally renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) rotation, spending a lot of time at the RNOH, where he gained experience in specialist forms of orthopaedic surgery. He has a keen interest in research. He is the principle investigator in two randomised controlled trials. He has presented extensively at expert international meetings as well being well published in journals. He is passionate about teaching and regularly engages with undergraduate students and postgraduate surgeons in training. He is a training director at ESNEFT as well as being a governor at the ICENI education centre. Away from work, he enjoys walking and generally getting into the “great outdoors”. Having played rugby to international standard as a youth, he continues to follow the game, although only watching! Personal Statement: “I really enjoy interacting with my patients and I try to give patients access to the best possible choices for their care, whether that be hip or knee surgery. I believe that patient care should be individualised and finely tuned.”
