Dr Shamim Haider is a Consultant in Pain Management at Oaks Hospital specialising in low back and neck pain, disc related back pain, sciatica, neuropathic pain, post-surgery pain and neuromodulation for pain and incontinence.
Interventional and non-interventional management of:
- Spinal low back and neck pain
- Disc related chronic back pain
- Sciatica and other radicular pain
- Neuropathic pain
- Post-surgical chronic pain
- Intractable visceral pain
- Neuromodulation for pain management and incontinence.
Dr Haider believes in a holistic approach to pain management which includes medications, physical therapy, simple and high end interventions, as well as cognitive behaviour therapy.

Dr. Haider was appointed as pain and anaesthetic consultant in 2012, following extensive and high quality training in anaesthesia and pain medicine in Yorkshire deanery, Nottingham, North London and India - spanning a period in excess of 12 years.
He undertook Advanced Pain Fellowship in a West Yorkshire scheme at Leeds and Bradford and was awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Dr Haider is on the editorial board of the Journal of Observational Pain Medicine. He has co-authored a chapter in a pain textbook titled ‘Symptom Oriented Pain Management’. He also co-founded and manages the national group for pain fellows in the UK.
