Specialises in the treatment of kidney diseases. Studied at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, trained in general medicine at St Mary’s, the Royal Brompton Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Undertook specialist training in nephrology in North London at St Mary’s and the Hammersmith Hospital.
Practises in the NHS at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage and is the joint clinical lead for Transplantation and is the clinical lead for nephrology at St Albans City Hospital. Also looks after a cohort of dialysis patients at the Bedford dialysis unit. He has an interest in interventional nephrology (performing kidney biopsies and inserting dialysis catheters).
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Lawrence undertook a doctorate of medicine by research degree (MD) from Imperial College, London in clinical immunology, concentrating on risk factors for and mechanisms of antibody mediated rejection of kidney transplants and has published several research papers and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. He is responsible for teaching renal trainees and often gives talks on the subject of kidney disease for the generalist.
