He was Consultant Neurologist at Queens Hospital, Romford and since 2008 at Barts and The London NHS Trust. He was an Honorary Consultant for 25 years at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He has published over 150 scientific articles and written two books on disorders of smell and taste. Prof Hawkes is founder and Chief Editor of an international journal ‘Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders' published by Elsevier Press since 2011.
