Professor Davis is a recognised expert in the management of patients with hip and knee problems that require surgical replacement. He specialises in both primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery with excellent long-term results. He is an expert in the use and development of computer navigation and robotics, which improves the precision in which these operations can be performed.

Professor Davis is a self-confessed perfectionist, which first led him into the field of computer navigation and then into the field of robotics in an effort to improve the outcomes for his patients. Professor Davis performs a wide range of joint replacement surgery, using different techniques and different types of hip and knee replacements to match the requirements of individual patient needs. He is also an expert in revision hip and knee replacement. Professor Davis sees patients who have worn-out or painful hip and knee replacements and use various procedures, including the very latest techniques and materials to restore patients' function.

Professor Davis is an acclaimed authority in the use of robotic assisted surgery and computer navigation and is a well-known advocate in the field of new technologies within arthroplasty, including the use of the Mako robot and other computer assisted surgeries. Professor Davis was very proud to demonstrate the Mako robot to HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne. He has also had great fun filming the use of the robot for a SKY TV show aimed at encouraging children to experience the new ways technologies are being used as well as appearing on Midlands Today and other local news programmes. To date (March 2023).

Professor Davis has performed over 3,750 hip replacements, 1,150 knee replacements and carried out over 425 hip and knee joint revision surgery operations since 2006, in both his NHS and private practice. The National Joint Registry data for hip and knee replacement demonstrates that he is one of the top-performing surgeons in the whole of the UK.

Professor Davis graduated from Birmingham University in 1996 and undertook his basic and higher surgical training in the West Midlands. He undertook a year's fellowship in revision hip and knee arthroplasty in Toronto, Canada and holds an MSc in Trauma and a postgraduate certificate in medical education as well as the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics). Professor Davis has a strong research background in both clinical and laboratory-based research, with over 150 national and international presentations and has been invited faculty at national and international meetings on hip and knee replacement and revision surgery. Professor Davis leads in many areas of training for both undergraduates and qualified multidisciplinary staff. He is actively involved in education and currently holds the title of Head of Academy at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, co-ordinating all undergraduate medical education. He is also the module lead for Orthopaedics at the University of Birmingham as well as being the Clinical Lead for Orthopaedics at Aston University Medical School.
