Cataract surgery, premium implants, surgery for glasses including reading glasses, refractive surgery, corneal surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration, red eyes, posterior capsule opacification.

I am a Professor of Ophthalmology specialising in cataract and lens surgery, with over 30 years’ experience and more than 12,000 procedures performed.

My practice is focused on cataract surgery and lens-based vision correction. I have a longstanding interest in advancing cataract techniques and developed the “no needle, no patch” approach, now widely used across the NHS to improve patient comfort and recovery. I am the Immediate Past President of the UK & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and am regularly invited to speak internationally about my research on developments in lens surgery.

Alongside my private practice, I have held senior NHS leadership roles, including Lead Clinician at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust, Royal College of Ophthalmologists representative to the EU, where I oversaw a high level cataract service and gained extensive experience across both routine and more complex cases.

Patients often choose to see me for an expert, considered approach and clear advice. I have particular expertise in modern cataract surgery, including the use of advanced lens implants to improve vision at different distances and reduce dependence on glasses. I tailor treatment to each individual, with a focus on achieving high-quality visual outcomes.

At Ashtead Hospital, I see patients from the local area as well as those travelling from across the UK and overseas. Through detailed assessment of your eyes and a discussion about your lifestyle, we can identify the most appropriate treatment plan for your vision and visual goals.
