Dr Gupta manages patients with a host of gastrointestinal problems including gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, gastric and duodenal ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, anaemia, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, rectal bleeding and upper (oesophageal and gastric) and lower (small bowel, colonic, and ano-rectal) gastrointestinal cancers.

His specialist area of interest is removal of colonic polyps.

Academic background

Dr Gupta, MB BS MD MRCP FHEA, graduated from India in 1999 and moved to the UK in 2000. He undertook specialist gastroenterology training at the Royal London Hospital and district general hospitals on its rotation. He spent three years at St Mark’s Hospital, one of the 13 centres of excellence in endoscopy in the world, doing academic research and training in advanced polypectomy. He was awarded a MD for his thesis on assessment of polypectomy by Imperial College London in 2012 and in the same year was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He has considerable experience and expertise in endoscopic techniques and has been appointed the training lead for endoscopy at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
