Mr Kar Teoh is a triple board certified Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Foot & Ankle surgery and Trauma. He undertook his Higher Surgical Training in the Wales Deanery after completing his Medical School and Academic Foundation Programme in Edinburgh. His advanced UK Foot and Ankle training was in Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr. He further undertook prestigious fellowships in centre of excellences in Switzerland, Germany and United States of America. These fellowships helped cultivate a global perspective to his practice. His fellowship mentors include previous presidents of British Foot and Ankle Society, Swiss Foot and Ankle Society, European Foot and Ankle Society and American Foot and Ankle Society. He believes in providing a holistic individualised treatment plan for his patients gained from his international experience. He is able to provide the whole range of treatment for ankle arthritis from joint preserving osteotomy to the latest ankle replacement technology in the market to ankle arthrodesis.
His trauma training has been enhanced by time spent in four AO centre of excellence (Ganga hospital, Coimbatore, India; University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, Dresden, Germany; Charite Hospital, Berlin, Germany, and RWTH, Aachen, Germany).
He has been awarded numerous prestigious international fellowships (BOA, EFORT, SICOT, AO, BOFAS, EFAS, IBRA). He was the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Gold fellowship award recipient in 2017. He was chosen by the European Foot and Ankle Society (EFAS) for their prestigious travelling fellowship programme in 2018. He also represented Europe as their first ever EFORT-APOA Travelling Fellow to Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association Young Ambassador’s programme in 2018. He was also the first recipient of the BOA Zimmer Passage to India Fellowship in 2014.

Mr Teoh won the prestigious EFAS presidential prize at the biannual (every 2 years) EFAS Congress, Lyon (21-23 Oct 2021). It is awarded for the best finished research project presented at the congress.

Over the years, Kar has developed an interest in research, undergraduate and postgraduate education. He has also won numerous research awards and published widely. He has a H index of 12. He is a faculty on local and international courses. He has also been elected as a member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers by Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh showing his dedication to surgical teaching. He is an associate lecturer at Anglia Ruskin Medical School. He also runs training courses for surgeons interested to learn about the Vantage Total Ankle Replacement.
He is keen to accelerate service transformation and quality improvement within and across Trauma and Orthopaedic services and was a fellow on the BOA Clinical Leaders Programme 2017/18. He has a Chartered Management Institute Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Management. He is currently the clinical lead for major trauma services for his trust. He is also the Regional Specialty Professional Advisor in Trauma and Orthopaedics for his region (East of England).
