Miss Teresa Visser, Inpatient Physiotherapy Team Lead
Orthopaedics – Inpatients and Outpatients
BSc Physiotherapy – University of Stellenbosch, South Africa
For the first 10 years since I qualified, I worked as a musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapist in private practice in South Africa. I moved to the United Kingdom in 2002 and since then mainly worked as an orthopaedics inpatient physiotherapist in the independent sector. During this time, I developed an interest in pain management. I have attended courses about managing acute and persistent pain, which (I feel) influenced my practice and improved my patient care. Most of my experience is in the independent sector, but I gained experience recently as a locum in the NHS when I worked in Intermediate Care and Trauma Orthopaedics. My role as Inpatient Physio Team Lead has brought me back to Springfield Hospital where I lead the inpatient physiotherapy service. I have the pleasure of working within a friendly team and enjoy a role where I am able to perform a mix of clinical and organisational work.
