He continues an academic interest with over 20 papers in peer reviewed journals and numerous presentations at national and international meetings.

His higher surgical training was based in both the North Eastern Thames and East of England regions, where he obtained a broad based experience of General and Vascular Surgery. He returned to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge as a Senior Registrar where he completed his subspeciality training in complex Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. He was appointed as a consultant at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2008.
