His specialist trauma and orthopaedic training was in the university clinic of Bochum and the university clinic of Muenster where he also qualified as a specialist hand surgeon and specialist trauma surgeon. He has worked for more than 5 years at Consultant level in Germany before coming to the UK, latterly in Hamburg at a large level I trauma centre as the lead hand surgeon. He has worked as a consultant for the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust since April 2010 and has established himself in the UK as a trauma and upper limb surgeon.
