Gastric Band Advice

Diet and nutritional expectations

The regime after your procedure progresses from a liquid, to pureed/soft and then to a modified normal diet. This progression is intended to allow your body time to heal. At first your capacity to eat will be somewhat limited due to swelling from the procedure. One of the changes patients often comment about is the concept of wasting food. After your procedure you will eventually be satisfied with much less.

Top tips after Gastric Band Surgery

For constipation, prune juice, lactulose, or milk of magnesia is our first choice remedy. Please try to avoid Senna as this causes cramp like pain and can cause purging.

Medical concerns

Even though we do not expect you to have any serious problems, some symptoms that you may experience following any of the procedures need to be addressed immediately.

Review and follow up & support

All our patients will receive follow up appointments following their procedure and will be encouraged and supported on their weight loss journey. Please share your feelings and any problems with us (if you feel comfortable to do so), so that we can try to help you.
