Academic background

Mr Ryan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon consulting and operating at Euxton Hall Hospital and was born and brought up in Yorkshire. Mr Ryan qualified in Medicine at the University of Manchester in 1986 and trained in the North West region. He also spent time as the Sir Harry Platt research fellow at the University of Manchester.
Mr Ryan has had an NHS base at the Royal Bolton Hospital since 1997 and has wide experience of all aspects of trauma and orthopaedic surgery. His practice now concentrates on surgery of the knee, lower limb joint replacement and sports-related trauma.
In addition to his clinical work, he is active in the regional training programme for junior surgeons. Mr Ryan was Regional Adviser in Orthopaedic Surgery to the Royal College of Surgeons from 2007 to 2012, and is currently Head of Training for Registrars in the region. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons at the FRCS (Orth) examination.
