Academic Background
Mr Jayanthi is a Senior Consultant Laparoscopic & Robotic Upper GI Surgeon with extensive expertise in advanced minimally invasive surgery of the gallstones, reflux / hiatus hernia, hernias, oesophagus & stomach.
After graduating from the prestigious Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute in India, he moved to the UK to pursue higher surgical training and academic research. He subsequently undertook research at University of Oxford investigating the role of stem cells in islet transplantation for the treatment of diabetes, for which he was awarded an MD degree.
Mr Jayanthi was then appointed to the All Wales Higher Surgical Training Programme, where he completed his specialist surgical training.
He completed a Senior Laparoscopic Fellowship at ICENI Centre, Colchester, followed by a Senior Registrar post at St James's University Hospital, Leeds — one of the UK’s leading centres for both complex cancer and bariatric surgery.
He was subsequently selected for the prestigious Ethicon Bariatric Fellowship at Musgrove Park Hospital, an internationally recognised Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery.
Mr Jayanthi is currently a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital.
